“Saturday Night Live” will close out the show’s 45th season this weekend with another episode made despite the coronavirus keeping its cast members apart, “SNL” announced Thursday.
The long-running weekly sketch comedy show announced it will air its third “at-home” episode during its usual time slot Saturday evening on NBC for the program’s season finale.
Similar to its previous two episodes, the show will be “produced entirely remotely from the cast and celebrity guests’ homes as they practice social distancing,” reads the description of a preview video uploaded to the program’s YouTube account. Additional details, including the identity of any guest host or musical act, were not immediately known.
Usually filmed live at NBC Studios in New York, “SNL” briefly halted production in March due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the contagious disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
NBC subsequently aired two new episodes of “SNL” last month composed mainly of content filmed from the homes of the show’s cast members amid the continuing public health crisis.
