Actor Kevin Spacey says he cannot help but compare the day his “world completely changed” because of sexual misconduct claims against him with job losses due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The man who played Frank Underwood recently opined on the contagion for a “Bits and Pretzel” podcast by likening the economic fallout to the high-profile “House of Cards” collapse at Netflix.

Mr. Spacey was accused in the fall of 2017 of sexual misconduct by actor Anthony Rapp; the latter was 14 years old when the alleged incident took place.

Multiple individuals came forward with stories of groping and other unwanted sexual advances, although Mr. Spacey has denied them.

“I feel as though I can relate to what it feels like to have your world suddenly stop,” the 60-year-old said, Daily Mail first reported Wednesday. “And so while we may have found ourselves in similar situations, albeit for very different reasons and circumstances, I still believe that some of the emotional struggles are very much the same. … And so I do have empathy for what it feels like to suddenly be told that you can’t go back to work or that you might lose your job and that it’s a situation that you have absolutely no control over.”

The actor noted that he did not want to “sugarcoat” the pandemic and hoped others would turn the trying time into something “positive.”
