A model from an ESPN football analyst projects the Washington Redskins to have the worst record in 2020 — and the first overall pick in the draft.

ESPN’s Mike Clay posted the projections Tuesday to his Twitter account, predicting Washington will go 4-12 next season. That would be a one-win improvement for the Redskins, but it would be a disappointment given the overhaul of the roster under new coach Ron Rivera.

In his first offseason at the helm of the Redskins, Rivera added a number of free agents to bolster the team’s depth and drafted pass rusher Chase Young with the second overall pick.

Clay, though, thinks the moves only led to minimal improvements. His model estimates the Redskins will give up 430 points in 2020 — the second-most in the league. It also isn’t high on the Redskins’ offense as the model also predicts a bottom-five ranking with 312 points, or 19.5 points per game.

That, however, would be a noticeable jump as the Redskins averaged just 16.6 points per game in 2019.

If the Redskins finish with the worst record in 2020, it could mean that quarterback Dwayne Haskins’ future with the Redskins could be in trouble. Oddsmakers peg Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence as the first overall pick and if Haskins struggles, perhaps the Redskins could be looking at adding a new quarterback once again.
