Director Michael Moore told fans Thursday night that he is thrilled that arsonists decided to raze Minneapolis’ “evil police precinct” linked to former Officer Derek Chauvin.
Three days of looting, violence and destruction following the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who was pinned down by Mr. Chauvin.
“Good citizens burning down the evil police precinct in MN after all police were out & safe,” Mr. Moore tweet in response to the blaze. “All police should go home. No violence please. Police HQ must be demolished by the city tomorrow as a show of contrition to black America.”
Mr. Moore, then suggested that the 3rd Precinct’s ranks were not already multi-racial and that citizens could be conscripted into service.
“Rebuild PD with decent kind ppl aka ppl of color,” his tweet for 6.1 million followers concluded.
The celebrity activist’s rhetoric matches other figures in popular culture who have cheered the violence as the U.S. Department of Justice gets its investigation into Mr. Floyd’s death underway.
“When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction,” added former NFL player turned activist Colin Kaepernick on Thursday.
Rapper and actress Cardi B insisted before nearly 12 million Twitter followers that citizens were left with “no choice” but to loot and burn local businesses.
