BALTIMORE (AP) - Authorities in Maryland have arrested a suspect who was wanted on murder charges in the death of a missing man found slain in the woods, according to State Police.
State Police’s fugitive task force had been searching for James A. Reddick Jr., 29, for more than a week before authorities took him into custody Saturday in the backyard of a Baltimore home, the agency announced.
Reddick was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, assault, robbery, reckless endangerment and gun charges in the death of Deontae V. Belcher.
The 25-year-old was found dead from gunshot wounds along a power line trail in a wooded area of Cambridge on May 1, news outlets reported. He was reported missing by his mother on April 18, and was last seen a week before, authorities said.
Police did not comment on the circumstances leading to the shooting.
Reddick was set to be transported to Dorchester County where the charges originated, State Police said. It’s unclear whether he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
