BOSTON (AP) - The Anti-Defamation League of New England’s “A Nation of Immigrants” community Seder will focus on strength in diversity this year.
The 13th annual event is scheduled for Sunday at the UMass Boston Campus Center.
The theme was selected because this is “a time of uncertainty for so many immigrants, refugees and their families,” the ADL said in a statement.
The event will also serve as an opportunity to inspire people to advocate for voter and immigrant rights as well as meaningful immigration reform.
Immigration and social justice advocates as well as immigrants from across the world are scheduled to speak.
More than 300 people are expected to attend, among them Boston’s leading voices in social justice, including Boston’s Roman Catholic Cardinal Sean O’Malley and Boston City Councilor Julia Mejia.
The seder is one of many ways that ADL seeks to establish alliances with other immigrant and ethnic communities and create partnerships in order to fight bigotry, discrimination, and hate.
A Seder is a ritual meal that marks the Jewish holiday of Passover.
