ALVATON, Ky. (AP) - A tornado uprooted trees and damaged more than a dozen homes in a southern Kentucky community, authorities said.
The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-2 tornado hit the Alvaton community just after midnight Tuesday morning. The twister’s path was about 2 miles long and crossed through part of southeastern Warren County into Allen County, the weather service said.
Warren County Emergency Management Director Ronnie Pearson told the Daily News that an initial damage assessment found 15 homes were damaged. No injures were reported, he said.
“Damage ranged from patio furniture being moved to literally porches being torn off of homes, roof damage, windows broken and tons of trees down,” Pearson said.
The weather service said the tornado was spawned by a series of strong storms that also brought large hail and some flash flooding to the area.
