The Miami Dolphins have been long-rumored to be trade partners with the Washington Redskins for the second overall pick in April’s draft. But according to a new report, the Dolphins have actually set their eyes even higher than that.

The Miami Herald reported Tuesday that Dolphins “will make an attempt” to trade for the first overall pick, held by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Miami has more draft capitol than anyone in this year’s draft and are in need of a quarterback. LSU’s Joe Burrow is the consensus No. 1 pick.

Per the Herald:

And the Dolphins, as you have read in this space, will make an attempt at that opportunity at some point. It (well) could be in vain because the Cincinnati Bengals are said to highly value the No. 1 pick.

The Dolphins hold 14 picks, including three in the first round (5, 18 and 26).

Miami, coming off a 5-11 season, has also been linked to Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, though it is not known whether he’d still be available by the time of their current selection.

The team has Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen still on the roster.
