Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said Thursday he expects the NBA season to only be postponed and not canceled after the league indefinitely suspended all games in wake of one of its players testing positive for coronavirus.
Cuban told ESPN’s “Get Up” he “absolutely” thinks the NBA would be willing to extend into the later part of the summer, if it is safe for teams to play again.
Cuban floated an idea of resuming the season on a modified schedule, such as having only seven-to-eight regular season games before the playoffs begin.

The NBA has yet to announce its next steps after gameplay was suspended. Multiple teams, including the Washington Wizards, have urged its players and coaches to self quarantine.
If the NBA season resumes and extends into the summer, it could have an affect on USA Basketball and the Tokyo Olympics, which are still scheduled to take place in late July.
