WESTFIELD, Mass. (AP) - The new base commander for the 104th Fighter Wing at the Barnes Air National Guard base in Massachusetts was sworn in Tuesday.

Col. Peter T. Green III was sworn in as commander and promoted to brigadier general, the Springfield Republican reported.

The ceremony was held on base in Westfield and limited to family and staff to maintain social distancing protocols amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Green has served as wing commander of the fighter wing and as assistant adjutant general for the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

“During his tenure, he provided critical support to more than 1,000 Airmen and their families,” a spokesperson for the base said.
