GOLDSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina say they’ve arrested a man who they say shot and wounded a woman and a 3-year-old girl.

Goldsboro police said in a statement Monday that Tacarous Monquez Peterson faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and related counts.

Police said he turned himself in late Sunday night. They said he was sent to jail without bond. It’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney.

Police said they had responded to reports of gunfire on Saturday and discovered a vehicle that had been struck by bullets. A short time later, police said that a woman and a young girl arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. A search for Peterson, 27, followed.

WRAL reported that the woman and the girl were in stable condition.
