BETHEL, Vt. (AP) - A New York City man has died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 89 in Bethel, Vermont State Police said.
Jakim Brewster Hopkins, 32, was driving north on the interstate Sunday afternoon when he hit a minivan from behind, causing both vehicles to roll over multiple times. The other vehicle rolled over in the median and landed in the southbound lane.
Hopkins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his car and died. The other driver, from Massachusetts, was taken to the hospital and released with no injuries, police said.
Witnesses told police that Hopkins had been speeding and driving erratically before the crash, police said. State police are asking anyone who saw the crash to contact the state police barracks in Royalton.
