NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver they say crashed his vehicle heading into the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel and left his passenger to die.

Virginia State Police say they received a call 2:30 a.m. Sunday from a driver who was struck by a silver Ford Fusion on westbound I-64.

The Fusion’s driver kept going and flipped the car while speeding into the bridge tunnel. Police say his female passenger was ejected from the car and died on impact.

Another driver stopped to render aid, and police say the Fusion’s driver stole the good Samaritan’s car and drove off. That vehicle was found wrecked and abandoned in nearby Hampton.

Virginia State Police continue to investigate.
