ATLANTA (AP) - A $10,000 reward is being offered for information in the looting of a Georgia gun store in the wake of protests about the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward that’s being matched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, federal authorities said Friday.
Chuck’s Firearms was looted last Saturday about 2:30 a.m. At least 42 firearms were stolen, which the federal agency said could pose a potential danger to the community.
“We take this crime very seriously,” Arthur Peralta, the special agent in charge of the Atlanta office, said in a news release. “Firearms trafficking is a serious offense that results in significant federal prison time for the person or persons responsible.”
Chuck’s Firearms is one of several businesses damaged or looted during the Floyd protests, which have occurred daily for the past several days, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
