OGDEN, Utah (AP) - A Utah candidate who was a late entry to the race for a U.S. House of Representatives seat has passed his competitors in campaign fundraising.
Blake Moore had generated $357,639 in fundraising for his campaign bid as of June 10, The Standard-Examiner reported Monday.
Moore, who did not formally announce his campaign until Feb. 12, is one of four Republican hopefuls for the 1st District U.S. House seat.
U.S. Federal Election Commission fundraising reports through June 10 indicate Moore leads fellow Republican Bob Stevenson, who has raised $354,497.
Trailing them are two more Republicans, Katie Witt with $242,821 raised and Kerry Gibson with $201,000.
Two Democrats competing for the seat are at the bottom of the money list. Jamie Cheek had $26,927 in reported campaign fundraising and Darren Parry had $11,879 at the time of the reporting deadline.
Mail-in ballots for the respective party primaries are due June 30.
The winners in each primary will face off in the Nov. 3 general election to see who will succeed U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop, a nine-term Republican who is not seeking reelection.
