Don’t get your hopes up about DeMarcus Cousins potentially joining the Washington Wizards to replace forward Davis Bertans.
Or any team, for that matter.
The Athletic reported Cousins won’t sign with any team to participate in the NBA’s relaunched season near Orlando. The 29-year-old big man has missed all of this season with an ACL tear, but some teams reportedly had been eyeing him for when play returns next month.
Sources: Multiple teams have expressed interest in DeMarcus Cousins but have been told the four-time All-Star will sit out the resumed season and continue rehab for full return in 2020-21.

Cousins started his season with the Los Angeles Lakers and suffered his knee injury last August. The four-time All-Star has been derailed by injuries in recent seasons, also tearing his Achilles in 2018.
Cousins spent last season with the Golden State Warriors.
On Monday, it was reported that Bertans will miss the rest of the Wizards’ season, as he does not want to play during the pandemic. The NBA has given players the option to voluntarily sit out, even if they’re healthy, when play resumes.
John Wall, a close friend of Cousins dating back to their days as teammates at Kentucky, recently said he had been lobbying Washington to sign the center “for like five years.”
