Quarterback Dak Prescott will sign his franchise tender with the Dallas Cowboys worth $31.4 million by Monday, ESPN reported.

The decision, three months after Prescott was originally assigned the tag, means that Prescott in all likelihood will be under center for the Cowboys in 2020.

Prescott has sought a long-term deal with a desired figure rumored at one point to be $40 million a year, which would make him far and away the highest-paid player in the NFL.

Once Prescott signs his tender, he and the Cowboys still have until July 15 to reach a long-term deal. But if they don’t, Prescott is still obligated to report for Cowboys training camp.

Although Dallas went 8-8 and missed the playoffs last year, many consider the Cowboys a viable threat in 2020 under new coach Mike McCarthy. In addition to having Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott in place, they brought back wide receiver Amari Cooper, who was entering free agency, and selected receiver CeeDee Lamb in the first round of April’s draft.
