PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island teenager has been charged with a felony for stabbing her older sister after a dispute over housework, police said.

Officers responding to a report of a stabbing Sunday found a 19-year-old woman on the sidewalk, bleeding from her lower back, The Providence Journal reported.

She told authorities her 16-year-old sister had stabbed her, according to the police report.

The victim said she had told her two younger sisters to help her with housework and threatened to turn off the TV if they didn’t.

The 16-year-old told her older sister that if she followed through on the threat, she would stab her, police said. Things got physical, and the younger sister’s phone ended up broken.

The 16-year-old followed her sister into the backyard and stabbed her with a thin, pointed knife, according to police.

The younger sister was arrested and charged with felony assault, police said.

Child welfare officials did not return a message seeking information on a lawyer who could speak for the girl.
