Lamar Jackson was out in the sun on Sunday, doing what he does best: playing a little football. But Baltimore Ravens coaches and executives might have winced watching the video he posted to his Instagram story.

Playing beach football with friends, the NFL MVP scrambled and ran left toward the water, nearly colliding with a watercraft parked right by the sand and barely managing to flip over it.

An athletic play, especially while barefoot and wearing casual clothing and a bathing suit. But a dangerous one, too, if Jackson had broken, sprained or twisted some body part during that play. ESPN later reported that Jackson was not injured while playing on the beach.

Some fans online pointed to the cautionary tale of former NFL running back Robert Edwards, who nearly lost his leg following a knee injury he suffered in an NFL-sponsored flag football game played on a beach at the 1998 Pro Bowl.

Just last year, the Kansas City Chiefs asked Patrick Mahomes, the reigning MVP at the time, to stop playing pickup basketball for fear of him suffering a needless injury. The Ravens might be considering similar instructions for Jackson after his beach game.
