WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (AP) - A shooter who wounded a man and his 5-year-old daughter at a White Bear Lake boat launch was waiting for him to return from a boat trip before the suspect opened fire, according to investigators.
Alejandro Ray Seals had just returned to the boat launch Monday with his daughter, girlfriend and twin brother, Antonio Seals, when a black or dark blue Ford Edge drove over and someone inside fired three shots from the passenger side, said Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher.
The vehicle fled the scene at White Bear Lake County Park on the northwestern corner of the popular lake.
The young girl was directly in the line of fire, Fletcher tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press. She’s in serious condition at Regions Hospital.
Investigators believe that either Seals or his brother were the intended target, emphasizing that the shooting does not appear to be random.
Fletcher added that investigators are working on a “possible motive’ but said it was too soon to discuss it.
They also are exploring multiple leads on suspects. So far, no one has been arrested.
