Massachusetts Rep. Joe Kennedy III has an idea for which team should sign Colin Kaepernick: the New England Patriots.

Kennedy tweeted Tuesday that the NFL should apologize to Kaepernick and then added the Patriots should sign him.

The Democrat’s tweet came days after NFL Commissioner said the league was wrong for not listening to players about protesting and police brutality. Kaepernick, the first player to take a knee during the national anthem, has been out of the NFL since 2016.

The Patriots, meanwhile, watched longtime quarterback Tom Brady sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason. While it was surprising New England didn’t add a bigger name to replace Brady, the team appears content rolling with 2019 fourth-rounder Jarrett Stidham and veteran Brian Hoyer as their two signal-callers. The team added Hoyer in March.

Kennedy, who is running to unseat Sen. Ed Markey in the Democratic primary, joins a growing chorus of people who say an NFL team should sign Kaepernick in the wake of George Floyd’s death and the nationwide protests that have followed.
