The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees won’t play Monday night after the Miami Marlins, who played in Philadelphia on opening weekend of the Major League Baseball season, reportedly had 14 people test positive for COVID-19.

Had the Phillies-Yankees game gone on as planned, the Yankees would have used the same visitors’ clubhouse that the Marlins, some of whom were sick but didn’t know it yet, used over the weekend, though it would have been disinfected.

The Marlins canceled their home opener against the Baltimore Orioles Monday due to their virus outbreak.

One ESPN baseball reporter tweeted that he believed other MLB games scheduled for Monday would go on as scheduled.

The Nationals are scheduled to face the Toronto Blue Jays in the District this week, Monday through Thursday. Following that is supposed to be a road trip to Miami, but it’s unknown how long the Marlins won’t be able to play.
