A baseball card of Dr. Anthony Fauci released last week set a sales record, sports card giant Topps announced Monday.
The card sold 51,512 copies, an “all-time high,” Topps said on Twitter.
It is the first-ever sports card featuring Dr. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who has become a household name as a key adviser to President Trump’s coronavirus task force.

Topps released the card through its Topps Now line, a print-on-demand set that tracks major milestones throughout the baseball season. Each card is available to purchase online for 24 hours after the event.
The cards, which retailed for $9.99 on Topps’ website, are now selling for roughly $35 per card on Ebay.
Other cards released Thursday didn’t come close to the sales for Dr. Fauci’s card, which shows him throwing out the first pitch at the Washington Nationals game Thursday.
A card depicting Los Angeles Dodgers rookie pitcher Dustin May’s first start sold 1,395 copies for second place and a card of New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton’s 495-foot home run sold 1,105 copies, Topps said.
