Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Massachusetts Democrat and noted fourth in a socialist “squad” that includes fellow congressional members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, has just called for the outright cancellation of all forms of major debt.

And in so doing, she very well may have just secured the rights to the Crown of Insanity — you know, the one normally reserved for the heads of the most radical, most ridiculous, most far-left of political office. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, queen of the New Green Deal, has worn it several times; anti-Semitic Ms. Omar, at least a couple.

Now it’s Ms. Pressley’s turn.

“Cancel rent,” Ms. Pressley tweeted. “Cancel mortgage. Cancel student debt.”

In other words, cancel out any obligations the citizens of this nation have in terms of paying off purchases — purchases they freely decided to make, by the way. And why? For what purpose?

The end result of this would be societal and economic chaos.

It would flip capitalism on its head, toss contract law into the trash, turn normal notions of individual responsibility and traditional expectations about personal accountability into laughable, mockable, easily dismissed suggestions — akin to newly licensed teenagers who snark to cops who’ve caught them speeding, “Oh, I thought that speed limit was just a suggestion, not a requirement.”

For a seated member of Congress to blithely dangle to low information voters an American existence that’s nothing but a free ride on the backs of hard-working citizens is not just political pandering at its worst.

It’s anti-American.

It’s blatant unAmerican and unconstitutional.

Think about it. This is what Ms. Pressley is calling for: contracts that don’t hold in court. Agreements that can be broken for whatever reason, at any time. Signed documents that aren’t worth the paper on which they’re printed. The end of the free market; the beginning of total government control of the economy, and of all economic wheelings and dealings.

Socialism. Followed quickly by communism. Followed quickly by utter collapse of American society.

This is what’s passing for proper representation of the people these days?

If Ms. Pressley can’t uphold the principles of the Constitution she swore, as a member of Congress, to protect, she has no business being in office. Socialists cannot serve America and collectivism at the same time.
