NEENAH, Wis. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man sought in a fatal shooting in Neenah last month.
Neenah Police Chief Aaron Olson said Saturday that U.S. marshals and Milwaukee police arrested Donald Lee Billings, 34, of Milwaukee Friday in Milwaukee. Billings is accused of fatally shooting 38-year-old Adam Baith in his Neenah home on June 22.
Prosecutors have charged Billings with first-degree intentional homicide and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
According to the complaint, Billings and two other people met Baith at a bar in Neenah, then went back to Baith’s home for an after-bar party, the Post Crescent reported. Baith and Billings went inside, but the two others stayed outside. The two people heard gunshots and called 911. When police arrived, they saw a man run through the backyard away from the house.
Police searched Baith’s home and found six fired bullets, eight shell casings and a handgun case, the complaint said. Police did not find a gun or Baith’s wallet but found a bag of marijuana in the backyard.
Billings’ girlfriend told police Billings showed up at her apartment less than a mile from Baith’s home about two hours after the shooting. Billings’ girlfriend dropped him off in Milwaukee, the complaint said.
