CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Charleston’s Elk River has a new kayak launch.

City officials on Wednesday announced the installation of a kayak launch on the river behind the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

The free launch is open between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., according to a news release. Parking is free at the convention center’s boat dock.

Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said she hopes the new launch will draw tourism travel to the city.
