Fashion magazines are continuing what appears to be a ban on featuring first lady Melania Trump.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is part of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, is now featured in InStyle magazine, wearing sunglasses, sitting poolside and sharing thoughts about his high-profile position.

“Right now, with all due modesty, I think I’m pretty effective. I certainly am energetic. And I think everybody thinks I’m doing more than an outstanding job,” Dr. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told the publication.

Some wonder why Mrs. Trump — who now champions multiple social and cultural causes and has represented the U.S. on a global scale — has not been offered a similar treatment.

“First lady Melania Trump, a former fashion model, has yet to be featured for InStyle since becoming first lady, in stark contrast to her predecessor former first lady Michelle Obama, and, apparently, even Dr. Fauci,” wrote Amanda Prestigiacomo, a staff writer for The Daily Wire.

She pointed out that Mrs. Obama was featured on a dozen major magazine covers during her time at the White House — including three appearances on the cover of Vogue.

“Yet Melania is still waiting,” tweeted Jenna Ellis, senior legal adviser for Team Trump, the president’s reelection campaign.

This is not the first time the matter has come up.

“In the past, President Trump, seemingly irritated by the media’s treatment of his wife, suggested that Melania would be fawned over like former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, or ’Jackie O’ if she were a Democrat,” Ms. Prestigiacomo said.

“Melania’s treatment was raised in 2018 by award-winning actor and conservative politico James Woods. ’If the Trumps were Democrats, Melania would be on every cover of every chic women’s magazine in the world every month,’ he said via Twitter, captioning a stunning photo of Melania in a strapless blue dress,” she wrote.
