Tom Hanks has a message for “p—-y” Americans who won’t wear masks during the coronavirus pandemic: “Shame on you.”
The former “Joe Versus the Volcano” star erupted on non-mask wearing fellow citizens this week during a People magazine interview to promote his new movie “Greyhound.”
“Don’t be a p—-y, get on with it, do your part,” the actor scolded the nation for a piece published Tuesday. “It’s very basic. If you’re driving a car, you don’t go too fast, you use your turn signal and you avoid hitting pedestrians. My Lord, it’s common sense.”
Mr. Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the contagion and recovered earlier this year.
“There’s really only three things we can do in order to get to tomorrow: Wear a mask, social distance, wash our hands,” the Hollywood celebrity said. “Those things are so simple, so easy, if anybody cannot find it in themselves to practice those three very basic things — I just think shame on you.”
Roughly 2.6 million Americans out of a population of 330 million have contracted the virus.
“We had about 10 days of very uncomfortable symptoms,” he said. “Not life-threatening, we’re happy to say.”
More than 127,000 U.S. deaths have been attributed to COVID-19, which originated in Wuhan, China.
