LAS VEGAS (AP) - An agreement between Uber and regional transportation officials will allow riders in Nevada to purchase bus tickets through the ride-hailing service.

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada announced the partnership with Uber Monday in what officials said is an attempt to streamline public transportation in Las Vegas.

Area riders will be able to find bus service information and buy the tickets using payment information saved in the Uber app, officials said.

Customers can also compare prices and routes between Uber car services and local bus service.

Users will be able to store ticket purchases using Uber and then scan the information as they board a bus.

The transportation commission has an existing app with more than 50,000 users, but officials said the partnership will assist the millions of tourists who visit Las Vegas.

Ticket prices will remain the same on the commission and Uber apps, officials said.
