NORCROSS, Ga. (AP) - Authorities have charged the driver of a tractor-trailer that crashed into multiple vehicles and overturned at a Georgia gas station.
In a statement Friday, Georgia State Patrol said Andrel Tremaine Meadows, 42, faces multiple charges, including driving too fast for conditions, following too close and having an unsecure load, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Ten vehicles were damaged in the crash Thursday morning in Norcross. No life-threatening injuries were reported, but one person had to be freed from the wreckage, authorities said.
Meadows said he had applied his breaks to avoid a crash and the truck slid, which caused him to lose control, authorities said.
The truck then smashed into at least two cars stopped at a red light, the agency said.
Gwinnett fire spokesman Donald Strother said the crash sent the tractor-trailer and at least one other vehicle into the parking lot of a gas station, where the trailer eventually overturned.
State Patrol said no one else has been charged.
