SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Northern California identified a body found in a river as the son of two Missouri judges who went missing in Sacramento in December.

The Sacramento Police Department said Monday the coroner identified the body found Sunday in the American River as 25-year-old Alex Holden. Officials did not give a cause of death, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Greene County Judge Calvin Holden confirmed his son’s death Sunday to a newspaper in Missouri. He described his son as a “great, caring, compassionate person” but provided no details on his death.

Alexander Holden was last seen Dec. 31 in downtown Sacramento, where he worked for Amazon and had lived for about two years. His mother, Margaret Palmietto, also is a Greene County judge, and his uncle is former Missouri Gov. Bob Holden.

Amid the search, the family had offered a $10,000 reward for information that helped find him. Police said his disappearance was uncharacteristic.
