The NBA postponed Tuesday’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers in the aftermath of Kobe Bryant’s death Sunday in a helicopter crash.
Bryant played all 20 seasons of his NBA career with the Lakers. Fans gathered outside the Staples Center, where both the Lakers and Clippers play, Sunday to mourn his passing.
The game will be rescheduled, according to the league, but the date has yet to be announced.
“The decision was made out of respect for the Lakers organization, which is deeply grieving the tragic loss of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people in a helicopter crash on Sunday,” a statement from the NBA said.
Eight NBA games scheduled for Sunday were played in the hours after news of Bryant’s death first became public. The Lakers did not have games scheduled for Sunday or Monday.
