INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A security guard and a patron at an Indianapolis strip club died in an early morning shooting outside the club, police said Monday.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to Pony Club Indy about 2:30 a.m. Monday on a report of a person shot. Officers found a man shot multiple times outside near an entrance to the club and a second man dead in a car outside the club on the city’s west side.

The shooting victims were a security guard and a patron who had just been escorted out of the club, IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley told The Indianapolis Star.

The man found critically wounded near the entrance had worked security at the club. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police said the patron had been causing trouble inside the club and the security guard had to physically escort him out of the building. That man then got in his car, drove by the club and gunshots were exchanged, WXIN-TV reported.

“It appears that the security guard possibly shot the deceased, but we don’t know that for sure,” IMPD Lt. Kerry Buckner told the station.
