GARDINER, Maine (AP) - One man was shot and another stabbed in an altercation that’s being investigated by state police, officials said Saturday.
State police used a tracking dog to find a suspected assailant hiding in the foundation of an abandoned building, and that man is being questioned, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Police were alerted when one of the injured men sought help at a home on Lincoln Avenue. Police found the injured men outside the home at about 1 a.m.
Both men were transported by ambulance to MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta before being taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where their conditions weren’t immediately known.
Further details were not immediately available. State police declined to release the names of any of the men.
