Central
AUSTIN: FAIR. Water Clear; 57-61 degrees; 0.96 low. Largemouth bass remain fair on the calm wind days with strong north winds being the toughest. The best spots are along the vegetation line, and points with Carolina rigged plastic worms spinners, jigs, crankbaits, and jerkbaits. Sunfish are slow on cutworms, and corn understructure. Catfish are fair on perch, gulp minnows, day or night on the edge of the main lake channel.
BASTROP: FAIR. Slightly stained; 59 degrees; Largemouth bass are fair close to vegetation, and creek channels with Carolina rigged plastic worms, crankbait, jigs, and rigged lizards. Crappie are fair on jigs and live bait running drops. Channel and blue winter catfish are good on stinkbait or cut bait. Warm water around the plant has been an excellent location for activity among all species.
BELTON: GOOD. Lightly stained; 56-60 degrees; 2.98’ low. Black bass are good on grubs, jigs, spinners, plastic worms, and smaller crankbait. Fish locations that have warm water, plus stay out of the north wind. Hybrid stripers are good on live bait, jigs, and crankbaits in mid-lake channels fishing the deep water for schools. Crappie are fair on jigs in deeper structure. Catfish are fair on shad, shrimp, blood bait, and stinkbait.
BROWNWOOD: FAIR. Lightly stained; 58 degrees; 3.54’ low. Largemouth bass are fair to slow on crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits, and topwater. The best locations continue to be rock drops, vegetation, and fish attractors. White bass are fair on slabs and Alabama rigs in similar areas as the largemouth. Catfish have been good on prepared bait night fishing, and shad baited trotlines.
BUCHANAN: FAIR. Water stained; 59 degrees; 3.84’ low. Largemouth bass are fair with jigs, spinners, and plastic worms on ledges, in the numerous creeks edges with on rocky drops. Striped bass continue to run among the mid-lake humps with increasing frequency on live shad and swimbaits. White bass are good on minnows. Crappie are slow on jigs and minnows. Channel catfish have been good on stinkbait, live and cut bait.
CANYON LAKE: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 60 degrees; 3.07’ low. Striper fishing is good with spoons and rattletraps on mid-lake humps. Largemouth bass are fair with topwater and crankbaits among flooded timber and main lake points and plastic worms. Catfish are good west of the lake with live, cut bait, and trotlines.
FAYETTE: GOOD. Water lightly stained. 59 degrees; Largemouth bass are good on spinners, worms, and crankbaits in warm water and submerged brush. Sunfish are fair on worms and crickets. Catfish are good on stinkbait, live bait, and cut bait.
GRANBURY: FAIR. Water lightly stained. 57 degrees. 0.14’ low. Crappie fishing is fair around structures like boat docks, and bridge structures with minnows and jigs. Catfishing is fair with live and stinkbait. White bass are good mid-lake and up north with small jigs and Alabama rigs. Largemouth bass are fair and are around boat docks and shoreline cover with plastic worms and crankbait.
GRANGER: SLOW. Water clear; 56 degrees; 0.53’ high. Black bass continue to be slow on crankbaits, plastic worms, and spinners. Wait until late January to fish for black bass. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows in creeks. White bass are slow on slab spoons and Alabama rigs in deeper water along points. Catfish are good with cut shad and prepped dough balls throughout the lake, especially at night.
LBJ: FAIR. Water stained; 57 degrees; 0.87’ low. Black bass are fair in coves and around the dam on crankbaits, spinners, and plastic rigged worms. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows with brush piles and underneath boat houses. White bass are fair on smaller crankbaits, jigs, and minnows mainly around the dam in mid to deep water. Catfish are good on stinkbait and cut bait.
LIMESTONE: FAIR. Water stained; 57 degrees; 3.40’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on plastic worms, topwater, and spinners in vegetation. White bass and hybrid stripers are fair on slabs in the main lake. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs around standing timber and beneath large and deep boat docks. Catfish are good on cut shad or prepped baits.
NAVARRO MILLS: FAIR. Water stained; 58 degrees. 2.49 low. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around marinas and vegetation. Catfish are best with live bait. White bass are fair on slabs among mid-lake. Black bass are fair with spinners, crankbaits, and jigs along vegetation edges with northern cover.
PROCTOR: FAIR. Water lightly stained. 58 degrees. 3.46’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on plastic worms, spinners, and jigs finding brush piles with your boat equipment. Hybrid stripers are fair with trolling jigs. Crappie are good with jigs by the of north bank structures. Catfish are good on stinkbait and cut bait sticking around the spillway as well.
SOMERVILLE: FAIR. Water stained; 58 degrees; 0.30’ low. White bass and hybrids are good among points on minnows, rattle traps, and Alabama rigs. Crappie fishing is good with minnows and some darker jigs. Catfish are good throughout the lake with cut shad and stinkbait. Largemouth bass are good on plastic worms, crankbait, and jigs along points, drops, and the western creeks and flats.
STILLHOUSE: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 58 degrees; 3.34’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on topwater, jigs, and Carolina rigged plastic worms by vegetation in shallower waters and dropped points. Smallmouth are fair with topwaters and crankbaits on rocky points and quick dropping areas. White bass are fair with small spinners on humps. Catfish are fair with live and cut bait. Trotlining is best in the upper lake using live sunfish.
TRAVIS: FAIR. Water clear; 56 degrees; 11.41 low. Largemouth bass are good with minnows, poppers, and spinners. The better points remain in the northeast portions of the reservoir but don’t ignore the main lake drops. White bass are fair in submerged drops leading to mid-lake depth with smaller spinners, crankbaits, and jigs. Catfish are fair on cut bait and stinkbait, excelling with blues and flatheads.
WALTER E. LONG: GOOD. Water stained. 57 degrees; Largemouth bass are good with points, warm water, and among vegetation with plastic worms, topwaters, and crankbaits. Hybrid striper are slow. Crappie are slow. Catfish are fair on live bait and stink baits. Sunfish are caught on crickets, power bait pellets, and corn.
WACO: FAIR. Water lightly stained. 56 degrees; 5.06’ low. Largemouth bass are good on spinnerbaits, crankbait, weighted plastic worms in flats, structure, and major points using fishing finding equipment. Crappie are fair on minnows and weighted light-colored jigs next to creeks and among brush. Sunfish are fair on worms or crickets. Channel and blue catfish are fair on cut shad, live bait, and blood flavored-prepped bait.
WHITNEY: FAIR. Water stained 57 degrees; 6.39’ low. Black bass are fair on plastic worms, jigs, and deep-diving crankbaits. White bass are fair on Alabama rigs, spinnerbaits, and with minnows in the main southern lake with vegetation. Crappie are fair with minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on live shad, stink bait, and cut shad.
NORTHEAST
ARLINGTON: FAIR. Water stained; 54 degrees; 1.96’ low. Largemouth bass are good near boat docks with worms, spinners, rattletraps, and Alabama rigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs finding submerged structure and brush. Catfish are good on live bait and stinkbait throughout the lake and around the plant.
ATHENS: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 53 degrees; 0.75’ low. Largemouth bass are good on Carolina rigged worms, jigs, and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on cut bait and stinkbait. Sunfish are slow on cutworms.
BENBROOK: FAIR. Water stained; 54 degrees; 7.05’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on Carolina rigged worms, bass jigs, and lighter-colored spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows. Hybrid striped bass and white bass are good with slabs, spinners, or spoons by the dam and main lake. Catfish are good on stinkbait and live bait.
BOB SANDLIN: FAIR. Water stained; 52 degrees; 0.74’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on crankbaits, jigs, jerkbaits, and spinners. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. White bass are fair on jigs on deeper points. Catfish are good on worms or stinkbait.
BRIDGEPORT: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 51 degrees: 4.79’ low. Black bass are fair on craws, spinners, and jigs in deep drops and submerged vegetation water. Crappie are very good with jigs and minnows. White bass are good on slabs and live minnows. Hybrids are good on slabs following schools. Catfish are fair on minnows in deeper water and among feeder mouths.
CADDO: GOOD. Water stained; 50 degrees; 0.51 high. Largemouth bass are good moving on rigged plastic worms and spinnerbaits with high plant life. Crappie are good on smaller minnows and jigs among the cypress trunks. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and live bait throughout the shallow reservoir.
CEDAR CREEK: FAIR. Water stained; 52-54 degrees, 2.52’ low. Largemouth bass are good on Carolina rigged creature baits, plastic worms, crankbaits, and spinners. Hybrid stripers and white bass are fair in deep water and finding the schools. Crappie are fair on minnows and shooting docks with jigs. Catfish are good on cut shad, dough bait, and stinkbait over corks under boat docks and the coves with at least 5 feet of water.
COOPER: FAIR. Water clear; 53 degrees; 2.18’ low. Largemouth bass are good on Carolina rigged worms, crankbaits, and spinners on points or working flooded timber. The white bass continue to be good on slabs and live bait. Catfish are good on live and cut bait.
EAGLE MOUNTAIN: FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.22’ low. Black bass are fair among steep main lake drops with crankbaits, spinners, and plastic worms. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on cut bait, prepped bait, and liver.
FORK: FAIR. Water stained; 52-54 degrees; 2.38’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on plastic worms, spinners, and Alabama rigs on deep humps and creek bends. Bumping the bottom with worms, slugs, and plastic minnows has been successful across from the marina, use Alabama rigs and spinners on points along with flooded timber. White and yellow bass are fair on Alabama Rigs. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows around any structure. Catfish are fair on prepared bait and cut bait.
GRAHAM: FAIR. Water stained; 51 degrees; 2.92 low. Largemouth bass are good on artificial baits in vegetation. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows under docks and vegetation. White bass are good on slabs and Alabama rigs. Hybrid stripers are consistent in the channel between Graham and Eddleman on rattle traps. Catfish are fair on cut shad and live bait.
GRAPEVINE: FAIR. Water stained; 53 degrees; 0.50 high. Largemouth bass are fair on Texas, and Carolina rigged plastic worms around rocky points and vegetation. White bass are fair on live shad. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs around brush piles. Catfish are good on live and prepped bait in most parts of the lake.
JACKSONVILLE: FAIR. Water stained; 52 degrees; 0.63’ low. Largemouth bass continue to be fair with cranks and spinners in deep structure around the dam. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows around structure. Catfish are very slow on cut shad and prepped bait.
JOE POOL: GOOD. Water stained; 54 degrees; 2.87’ low. The largemouth bite is fair to good on T-rigged soft plastic worms and creature baits, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits in 3-15 feet near rock and flooded timber. Crappie continue to produce using live bait under the bridges. Catfish are good on cut bait by the spillway and near creeks.
KEMP: FAIR. Water clear; 55 degrees; 2.34’ low. Largemouth bass are good with Texas-rigged, straight-tailed worms, crankbait, some live bait, and spinnerbait. Crappie are good on crappie jigs in timber and structure. White bass and hybrid continue to be good on slabs. Catfish are good with blood and liver prepared baits near the westside channels.
LAKE O’ THE PINES: GOOD. Water stained; 57 degrees; 0.62 high. Largemouth bass are good on topwater, spinners, swimbaits, and crankbaits. Crappie are fair on mainly minnows and reeled jigs among structure. Catfish are good on all types of catfish bait, especially live bait. White bass are good on Alabama Rigs.
LAVON: GOOD. Water stained; 59-61 degrees: 3.47’ low. Crappie are good on jigs, spinners, crankbaits, and plastic worms in 20 feet of water. White bass have been poor. Black bass are good on crawfish crankbaits, worms, and jigs on rocky and deep points. Catfish are very good on Santee rig cut shad in 8-20 feet.
LEWISVILLE: GOOD. Water stained; 55 degrees; 0.09’ high. Black bass are good on Texas-rigged plastic baits, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits along the rocky shorelines. White bass are good on slabs. Crappie are good on minnows and weighted jigs among brush and vegetation. Catfish are fair on prepared bait and cut bait. Hybrid stripers continue to be slow.
MARTIN CREEK: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 54 degrees; 3.46’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on worms, jigs, crankbaits, and spinners with drops and submerged vegetation. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. Catfish are excellent on live bait, cut bait, or prepped bait throughout the lake.
PALESTINE: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 53 degrees; 1.50’ low. Largemouth bass are good on Carolina rigged worms, spinners, lipless cranks in Saline Bay. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. Hybrid stripers are good on minnows. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish continue to be excellent on shad and chicken livers.
PALO PINTO: FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 3.12’ low. Largemouth bass remain fair on Carolina rigged worms, jigs and spinners on drops, creek edges, and boat docks. Crappie are fair on live minnows and jigs. White bass are fair on live shad. Striped bass are good on live shad and jigs. Catfish are fair on live shad, minnows, and stinkbait.
RAY HUBBARD: GOOD. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.90” low. Largemouth bass are good on crankbaits and spinners on the Rockwall side of the I-30 bridge. White bass are fair on drop shot and spinner tail shads on the open water side of the standing timber or south of I-30. Crappie remain slow on minnows and small jigs using bridge pilings, structure, and brush as cover. Catfish: are good on live shad in most water- look north of the 66 bridge. Hybrid are fair on lipless crankbaits in 10-20 feet. The power plant to the spillway has been effective with some sand humps
RAY ROBERTS: GOOD. Water stained: 60-62 degrees; 0.09’ high. Largemouth bass are good on fluke and Zcraw with vegetation, points, and drops. Crappie are slow on jigs and minnows around the brush and timber north. The shallow rock flats among FM 455 are producing for baitfish and bowfishing, but no game fish. Catfish are good on live bait and stinkbait around Wolf Island.
RICHLAND CHAMBERS: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 60 degrees; 3.66 low. Largemouth bass are good on topwater, plastic worms, spinners, and jigging spoons- look for the deep drops off mid-lake islands. White bass and hybrids are good on slabs and jigs in deep water. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs around the coves with timber. Catfish are good on live bait and cut bait.
SQUAW CREEK: GOOD. Water clear; 57 degrees; 1.58’ low. Catfishing has been excellent around the timber on live bait. Largemouth bass has been excellent on soft plastic worms and crankbaits looking for the deeper vegetation.
SULPHUR SPRINGS: SLOW. Water stained; 55 degrees; 0.68’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on Texas rigged plastic worms, topwater, spinnerbaits, and bass jigs looking for the deeper ridges. Crappie continue to be slow on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on cut shad and live bait.
TAWAKONI: FAIR. Water stained; 57 degrees; 1.73’ low. Catfish are great on the lake with live, cut shad, shrimp, and stinkbait. Largemouth bass are fair on spinnerbaits, plastic worms, and crankbait on the shoreline. White bass and hybrid stripers are good on slabs, spoons, and Alabama rigs among deeper lake points and structure. Crappie are fair on minnows under bridges, docks and marinas.
TEXOMA: FAIR. Water stained; 56 degrees; 1.18’ high. Striped bass are good using slabs, swimbaits, and live bait in deeper water and deep coves. Largemouth bass are good drifting live baits and reeled baits across low traffic natural structure. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs around large structure in shallow water. Catfish are fair on live shrimp, cut bait, and minnows.
TYLER: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 54 degrees; 2.11’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on Carolina rigged creature baits, spinners and plastic worms in both lakes. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and live baits. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid stripers are good with Rat–L–Traps matching the hatch of the baitfish.
WEATHERFORD: FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.61’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and plastic worms looking for points and drops. White bass are good with minnows, smaller crankbaits, and Alabama rigs. Crappie have been excellent on minnows and jigs in brush piles, man-made structures such as marinas and boat docks. Catfish are good on crawfish, livers, blood baits, and cut bait.
WORTH: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 56 degrees; 1.82’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on buzzbaits, spinners, and worms under docks. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs under docks. Catfish are good on live bait, stinkbait, and cut bait close to the airport flats.
WRIGHT PATMAN: FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 3.76’ high. Largemouth bass are fair on slow-moving jigs, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and plastic worms among man-made structures. White bass are good on slabs and spoons. Crappie are good on jigs within brush piles. Catfish are good on cut bait, live bait, and stinkbait.
SOUTH
AMISTAD: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 63 degrees; 30.90’ low. Largemouth bass are good on topwaters, spinners, and plastic worms primarily focused on flooded timber, points, and submerged vegetation. Lake conditions have been day today, so check your daily forecast for low wind and 65 degrees or over air temperature. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and cut bait throughout the reservoir.
CALAVERAS: FAIR. Water stained; 59 degrees. Channel Catfish are good on stinkbait, liver, and live shad throughout most of the lake. The dam and near the plant have been sweet spots. Red drum are slow on live crawfish and tilapia. Largemouth bass have been fair on jigs, plastic worms, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Hybrid striped bass are fair on spoons and rattle traps.
CHOKE CANYON: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 60 degrees; 17.65’ low. Largemouth bass are fair topwater, crankbaits, spinners, and worms. Look for points and some topwater activity to determine your spots. White bass are fair with minnows near feeder rivers and extending about 200 yards out. All catfish are excellent on larger live bait and cut baits in shallower water 10 feet or less.
CORPUS CHRISTI LAKE: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 60-64 degrees; 3.33’ low. Largemouth bass are slow due to the wind intensity the past week. Look for anything out of the wind. White bass are good on rattletraps and minnows in and around the Nueces River and deeper submerged former river bed. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait and cheese bait.
FALCON: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 57-61 degrees; 35.62’ low. Black bass continue to be fair on soft plastic worms, spinners, and topwater lures along rock points and mid-lake humps. Crappie are good on live bait among submerged brush piles. Catfish are good on all live bait, including shrimp, shad, and stinkbait. Remember to stay on the Texas side unless you possess a Mexican Fishing License.
MEDINA: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 58-62 degrees; 9.78’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on jigs and reeled baits among creek beds and their structure. Crappie are slow with jigs and minnows. White bass are fair on spoons and jigs. Striped bass are fair on rattletraps. Smallmouth bass are good on white grubs and jigs. Catfish are fair on live bait, chicken livers and blood baits in the inflow from feeder creeks.
TEXANA: FAIR. Water stained; 57-60 degrees; 4.75’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on jigs, Texas–rigged soft plastics and light-colored tube baits on points and drops. Crappie are fair on jigs. Catfish are fair to good on stinkbait, cut bait, and live bait. Trotlines are good for all species of catfish using live bait.
BRAUNIG: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 58–62 degrees; Largemouth bass are fair on Carolina rigged plastic worms, crankbaits, bass jigs, and spinnerbaits looking for warm water. Red drum are fair using crawfish and tilapia among plant discharge and close by ridges. Striped bass are fair on jigs and live shad in open water. Catfish are good on live bait and cheese bait.
SOUTHEAST
B.A. STEINHAGEN: GOOD. Water stained; 61 degrees; 0.41’ low. Largemouth bass are good with Carolina rigged worms, spinners and crankbaits. Fish closer to the banks with windy and colder conditions driving most largemouth shallower. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows, and catfish are good on cut and prepped bait.
CONROE: GOOD. Water stained; 64 degrees; 2.24’ low. Largemouth bass are good on jigs, spinners, and buzzbait in shallow water. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs around structure. Hybrid striped bass are in open water with jigs and shad. Catfish are good on stinkbait and cut bait. Bluegills are good with live worms or crickets in shallow water.
GIBBONS CREEK: FAIR. Water stained; 65 degrees; Largemouth bass are good in timber crankbaits and spinners. Crappie are good on jigs, especially in the warmer discharge waters. Catfish are good on live bait and liver-flavored prepared bait.
HOUSTON COUNTY: FAIR. Water stained; 60 degrees; 0.09’ high. Black bass are good on worms and cranks normally 50-100 yards off points. White bass are slow with jigs and spoons in deep drops. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Catfish are good on live and cut shad along with stinkbait.
LIVINGSTON: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 59 degrees; 0.23’ high. Largemouth bass are good on Carolina rigged plastics, spinners, crankbait, and jigs in coves and creek structures on the northern end of the lake. Striped bass are good on spoons and shad. Crappie are excellent on minnows and jigs in the creeks. White bass are good on spoons and Alabama Rigs. Catfish are fair on live bait and prepped dough balls.
NACONICHE: GOOD. Water slightly stained; 59 degrees; Largemouth bass are good on crankbaits, spinners, and jigs in shallow water, around timber. Crappie are good on jigs, and crappie minnows within shallower creek channels and bridge structures . Sunfish are fair on jigs, spinners, and crickets. Catfish are good on dough balls, cut and live bait.
RAVEN: FAIR. Water stained; 57-61 degrees; Largemouth bass continue to be fair around vegetation on buzzbaits or frogs early morning and if it’s overcast. Look for vegetation and any structure in 15 feet or less. Larger plastic worms are better among traditional structures with depth.
SAM RAYBURN: GOOD. Water stained; 57 degrees; 2.31’ low. Largemouth bass are good on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, and plastic worms staying 10 feet and shallower on creek edges, and. White bass are good on minnows riding humps. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs among deeper brush piles. Catfish are good on live and stinkbait.
TOLEDO BEND: GOOD. Water slightly stained; 57 degrees; 6.85’ low. Largemouth bass are good on drop shots, jigs, plastic worms, and spinners in shallow water on creek structure and some mid-depth ledges. Crappie are excellent in brush pile jigs in 15-20 feet of water. Striped bass are good on topwater, rattle traps, and spoons on main lake points and humps. White bass are fair on spoons and small crankbaits in deeper drops. Channel and blue catfish are fair on chicken livers and dough bait. Yellow catfish are slow.
PANHANDLE
CISCO: FAIR. Water clear; 54 degrees; 3.19’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on Texas rigged worms and jigs shallow on the lower end of the lake around boulders. Sunfish are fair with nightcrawlers or grubs. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers, liver, and cut shad all over the lake.
MEREDITH: SLOW. Water stained; 53 degrees; 46.86’ low. Low water conditions have hampered largemouth bass and walleye. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged plastics, crankbaits, jigs, and topwaters working humps, points, and ledges throughout the lake. Walleye are slow on crankbaits and rattletraps. Channel catfish are good on cut bait and live bait.
MILLERS CREEK: GOOD. Water stained; 54 degrees; 1.83 low. Largemouth bass are good moving to submerged trees on jigs, and in vegetation with crankbaits and plastic worms. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs among brush piles. White bass and hybrids have been good with artificial and live baits. Catfish are good with blood and liver prepared baits.
WEST
ALAN HENRY: FAIR. Water clear 55 degrees; 2.24’ low. Black bass are good on rigged worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits working the steep shorelines and around timber. Crappie are good on minnows, and jigs around the pier and flooded timber. Catfish are fair on live bait and stinkbait.
ARROWHEAD: FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.01’ low. Largemouth bass continue to be fair on Texas rigs, spinners, and jigs in less than 10 feet. Crappie are good on live minnows and jigs near structure. Catfish are good on punch bait, prepped baits, and shrimp.
COLEMAN: GOOD. Slightly stained. 54 degrees. 2.89’ low. Hybrid stripers are good drift fishing with live bait on the main lake, humps and deep drops. Some topwaters are successful before noon and late afternoon. Largemouth bass are good on topwater, spinnerbaits, plastic worms, and buzzbait among standing timber, and ledges. Catfish are fair with stink bait and cut bait.
FT. PHANTOM HILL: GOOD. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.36’ low. White and hybrid striped bass are good with deep-diving crankbaits fishing with the wind. Largemouth bass are fair on plastic worms and spinners in deep drops. Crappie are good on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair at night on cut shad and stinkbait.
HUBBARD CREEK: FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.63’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on jigs and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on live minnows. White bass and crappie are good in Hubbard Creek. Catfish are fair on live and cut shad.
NASWORTHY: FAIR. Water Murky 56 degrees. 0.79’ low. Largemouth bass are fair among vegetation, man-made structures, and drops with slowly reeled spinners, jigs, and crankbaits. Crappie are fair under deep structure on crappie minnow. Catfish are fair on live and prepped baits throughout the lake.
OAK CREEK: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 55 degrees; 2.05’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on spinners, and Carolina rigged worms within flooded timber and vegetation. Crappie are good on live minnows and jigs looking for mid-depth structure. White bass are slowing on Alabama Rigs, and small crankbaits in the main part of the reservoir. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers, live bait, cut bait, and dough balls anywhere in the lake.
O.C. FISHER: GOOD. Water Stained 56 Degrees. 37.40’ low. The low water has hurt some of the natural structure on the lake, but look for main lake humps and any existing creek channels. Largemouth bass are good on plastic worms, spinners, and jigs. Crappie are good along the dam on crappie minnows.
O.H. IVIE: FAIR. Water clear; 55 degrees; 9.91’ low. Largemouth bass are good on Carolina rigged worms, spinners, minnows, and jigs around timber- look in 20 plus feet depth on drops. Crappie are fair on live minnows, and jigs drop fishing. Catfish are good on stinkbait, live, and cut bait.
POSSUM KINGDOM: FAIR. Water clear; 56 degrees; 0.95’ low. Rainbow Trout are good on nightcrawlers or red wigglers. Largemouth bass are good on crankbaits, plastic worms and spinnerbaits in 10-30 feet of depth. Crappie are good on jigs, and minnows among brush piles and boat docks. White bass are fair on jigs, slabs, and spoons in the same habitat as largemouth. Striped bass are fair on live shad and jigs looking for mid-lake humps. Catfish are good on cut bait, live sunfish, and stinkbait.
SPENCE: FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 36.57’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on crankbaits, spinnerbaits and topwater among rocky drops and vegetation. White bass are slow. Catfish are fair on live and cut bait throughout.
STAMFORD: FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 1.32’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on Carolina rigged plastic worms, crankbaits, spinners, and jigs. Among the lower reservoir, seek out points, and vegetation. Crappie are good on live minnows, and jigs vertically fished around old trees. White bass are fair on live shad and slabs. Catfish are fair on live bait, and stinkbait prepped pellets.
TWIN BUTTES: FAIR. Water Stained. 55 Degrees. 8.76’ low. Largemouth Bass are fair on Carolina Rigs, worms, minnows, and crankbaits near creek structures, points, and humps. White bass are fair on artificial baits in the main lake. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs on submerged humps and creek channels. Catfish are fair on live prepped and cut bait all over.
WHITE RIVER: SLOW. Water stained; 54 degrees; 21.96’ low. Drought conditions are still in place. Please check boat ramp access. Largemouth bass continue to be slow on spinners, crankbaits and Carolina rigged plastic worms seeking flooded brush and points. The one bright spot in bass fishing has been bumping the bottom of the lake with plastic worms or craws. Crappie are slow on live minnows and jigs. Walleye are slow. Catfish are fair on live bait, cut bait, and stinkbait close to the White River Marina.
COASTAL
SABINE LAKE: GOOD. 61 degrees. Water clarity: Slightly stained to clear in most areas. Speckled trout are in the winter patterns still holding even though weather has warmed somewhat. The best fishing areas are northern regions of Sabine Lake, as well as the Sabine and Neches Rivers. The water temperature is holding in the mid-fifties to around sixty in the Lake. The North Levy Wall is holding trout as well as the Neches River Flats and Coffee Ground Cove on the east side of the lake. Best lures are jig and soft plastics and suspending twitch baits. Red fish can still be found on the Louisiana shoreline in 2 to 4 feet of water as well as in the Entergy Outfall Canal up the Neches River. Bull reds are on the jetties at Sabine Pass. Best lures for redfish are jig and soft plastics or suspending twitch baits. Best natural baits are cut mullet or frozen shrimp. The flounder run at Sabine Pass is winding down, but there are still some flounder left up both rivers and in some of the deeper bayous. The Entergy warm water discharge canal is holding flounder, reds, and black drum. Best bait is frozen shrimp on a Carolina rig.
PORT MANSFIELD: GOOD. 67 degrees. Fishing has been good with last weeks warmer weather. Trout can be found on the flats and reds and trout close to mud bottom or in the mud. Both can be caught on topwater, corkies, soft plastics in kwiggler paddle tail, and willow tail. Texas waters offshore have been really good for snapper using squid or jigs with kwiggler long-tail sally. Dead shrimp will do the job. Offshore still good for snapper in Texas waters.
TRINITY BAY: VERY GOOD. 60 degrees. Speckled trout are very good on live shrimp and soft plastics. Redfish are good in the marsh on live mullet, soft plastics, and shrimp and will be found along the shoreline. Sheepshead are very good on live shrimp.
EAST GALVESTON BAY: GOOD. 56 degrees. The flounder bite is good on live shrimp. Redfish and Black drum are good in 3 feet of water over mud and shell. Speckled trout are good near the island in deeper water. Catfish are slow.
WEST GALVESTON BAY: GOOD. 56 degrees. Redfish and Black drum are found in 3 feet of water over mud and shell. Flounder is good around Seawolf Park on live shrimp. Speckled trout are very good on shrimp, soft plastics and topwaters. Catfish are still slow due to migratory patterns.
TEXAS CITY: VERY GOOD. 55 degrees. Redfish are very good on soft plastics and will be found in the shallow water. Flounder are fair on live shrimp or minnow. Speckled trout are good on slow sinking mullet imitating plugs. Black drum are good on blue crab or shrimp.
FREEPORT: GOOD. 60-62 degrees. Black drum are excellent due to migratory patterns right now. Redfish will be found in the deeper channels early in the day and can be caught using live baits. Speckled trout bite are excellent on mullet or pinfish. Flounder are good along the marsh using live mullet. Bull reds are fair at the mouth of the Brazos river on cut menhaden baits.
PORT ARANSAS: GOOD. 60-62 degrees. Flounder are good on live mullet along the marsh. Redfish are fair on shrimp, Kwigglers paddle tail, and are found in schools. Speckled trout are decent on shrimp and top waters. Black drum are fair on shrimp or soft plastics.
ROCKPORT: GOOD. 59 degrees. Redfish are good on gold spoon dragged across the bottom. Trout are drifting and wading over hard sand with shell pockets. Almost any artificial swimbait or natural bait has been producing. Flounder have been poor.
CORPUS CHRISTI: VERY GOOD. 60 degrees. Redfish are very good on cut mullet and shrimp. Speckled trout are fair with Texas Rattler jigs near the jetties. Flounder are excellent on minnow or squid or jig. Drum are very good on shrimp.
SOUTH PADRE: GOOD. 68 degrees. Redfish are great in the flats on cut mullet. Speckled trout have been good on soft plastics that resemble mullet or shrimp or popping cork with live shrimp. Large schools of black drum have been caught in the deeper water transitions on soft plastics.
EAST MATAGORDA BAY: GOOD. 65 degrees. Speckled trout is good on live shrimp under popping cork and soft plastics around the mid-bay reefs. Redfish are very good in the marsh on live mullet, soft plastics and topwater. The flounder bite is fair on down south plastic in red or white color. Black drum are good on soft plastics or blue crab.
WEST MATAGORDA BAY: GOOD. 65 degrees. Black drum are fair on blue crab or soft plastics. Speckled trout is good on live shrimp under popping cork and soft plastics around the mid-bay reefs. Redfish are good in the marsh on live mullet, soft plastics and topwater. The flounder bite is fair on down south plastic in red or white color.
PORT O’CONNOR: VERY GOOD. 58 degrees. Black drum are very good on blue crab, shrimp or soft plastics. Trout are good on a combination of live or fresh baits such as shrimp or crab in the shallow sand bars. Redfish are excellent on live shrimp. Flounder are very good around any kind of baitfish- check around Pass Cavallo. Sheepshead are good near the jetty on live shrimp.
BAFFIN BAY: VERY GOOD. 65-67 degrees. Redfish are very good in the flats with topwater, and live bait following the mullet. Flounder are good on jigs or minnow. Speckled Trout are excellent on Gulp Shrimp- use lead jig head, bounce off the bottom quickly. Slow sinking artificial lures are the artificial of choice for the wade fisherman.
PORT ISABEL: GOOD. 67 degrees. Speckled Trout are good on bait resembling mullet. Sheepshead are very good on crab. Flounder are good on minnows. Jack Crevalle are good on live mullet. Redfish are fair on shrimp.
