HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man was sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison for drug trafficking.
Prosecutors say Jeremy Rodriguez, 22, was part of a drug trafficking organization selling large amounts of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and crack cocaine in the Hartford-area. The Hartford resident was also sentenced Friday to four years of probation, according to U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham’s office.
He pleaded guilty last October to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute heroin, fentanyl and cocaine.
Rodriguez has been in custody since he and 14 other members of the organization were arrested in July 2018.
Officials seized about 2.7 kilograms of fentanyl, one kilogram of heroin, approximately 500 grams of crack cocaine, 100 grams of cocaine as well as guns, ammo and cash during the arrests.
Julio Oliveras, also known as “Cuzzo Jay,” was identified as the leader of the organization.
Prosecutors say the 34-year-old Hartford resident supplied the drugs wholesale to Rodriguez and other area dealers. He also ran multiple locations to process, store and distribute the drugs, they say.
Oliveras was sentenced to more than 15 years in prison and five years of probation on Jan. 15.
