Former Redskins coach Jay Gruden will interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars for their offensive coordinator vacancy, according to a report.
Gruden, who Washington fired in October after an 0-5 start, had recently been said he was “itching” to get back in the NFL, and seemed opened to the possibility of becoming a coordinator again. The 52-year-old held the same position with the Cincinnati Bengals for three seasons before the Redskins hired him in 2014.
Gruden did not interview with any teams that had a vacancy at head coach this offseason.
Jacksonville, meanwhile, is in search for an offensive coordinator after it fired John DeFilippo following the season. The Jaguars showed some promise last year with rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew last year once veteran Nick Foles went down with an injury. When Foles returned late in the year, he ended up getting benched.
If hired, Gruden will work with coach Doug Marrone — who likely enters the 2020 season on the hot seat. The Jaguars made the AFC Championship in 2017, but have finished 5-11 and 6-10 the past two years.
