PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say violence claimed the lives of six people over the weekend in Philadelphia, including a 15-year-old boy.

A police spokesman said the youth, originally thought to have been 18 to 25 years old, was found shot twice in the chest in north Philadelphia just after 1:30 p.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead minutes later at Temple University Hospital.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday in Philadelphia’s Center City, a man in his 30s was stabbed in the neck and died about an hour later at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, police said.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the head shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday in west Philadelphia. He was pronounced dead minutes later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, police said. An arrest was made in that case.

In north Philadelphia, two more homicides were reported later. Just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday, a 24-year-old man was shot twice in the head as well as in the chest and back. He died minutes later at Temple University Hospital.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday, a 31-year-old man was shot three times in the head and died minutes later at Temple University Hospital.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday in northwest Philadelphia, a 24-year-old man “shot multiple times throughout the body” was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Several other people were wounded by shootings around the city over the weekend, police said.
