MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - People working in Vermont for the minimum wage are getting a raise Wednesday with the new year.
Effective Jan. 1, 2020 Vermont’s minimum wage increased 18 cents an hour to $10.96.
Vermont law requires that the minimum wage be calculated every year using the rate of inflation as determined by the Consumer Price Index. This year’s increase is 1.7% over the 2019 figure.
The minimum wage adjustment also affects “tipped employees.” The minimum wage for tipped employees is half of the full minimum wage, so the tipped minimum wage is increasing to $5.48.
