DETROIT (AP) - A blast of wintry weather is expected to hit most of Michigan on Sunday with up to 6 inches of snow expected in some parts of the state.
The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for most of the state. The heaviest snow was expected in the afternoon and evening.
Weather officials urged caution with travel, including slick road conditions for Monday’s morning commute.
The Traverse City area could see 3 to 6 inches of snow. Flint and Port Huron could see as many as 4 inches. The Detroit area could see 2 to 3 inches. Mount Pleasant and Ludington could see up to 5 inches
“There is a low pressure system developing in the central Plains, racing across lower Michigan,” National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Kook told The Detroit News. “It may catch people a little off guard.”
