Eric Weddle announced his retirement from the NFL Thursday afternoon after playing safety for 13 seasons with the San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams.
Weddle, 35, was a six-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro selection.
The versatile Weddle was able to play both free and strong safety in the NFL. He finished his career with 29 interceptions, eight forced fumbles and five defensive touchdowns in regular-season competition — all while missing just seven games.

Weddle played just one season with the Rams in 2019 after three years spent in Baltimore. He was the Chargers’ second-round pick, 37th overall, in 2007.
Former teammate Hayden Hurst, a Ravens tight end, was among those to reach out to Weddle on Twitter.
“You’re a legend dub! Appreciate everything you did for me! Means more than ya know man. Enjoy the family,” Hurst wrote.
