LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police and fire officials were investigating the cause of a mattress fire Wednesday after one person was treated for injuries at the Excalibur hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Sprinklers activated when the fire was reported about 11:30 a.m. in a sixth-floor room of the 26-story hotel, Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said.
The injured person was treated by paramedics and Buchanan said it was not clear if he or she would be taken to a hospital.
The castle-themed Excalibur has almost 4,000 rooms. Buchanan said no evacuations were necessary.
He said crews quickly extinguished the fire and worked with hotel engineers to clear smoke from the area.
A spokesman for hotel owner MGM Resorts International did not immediately respond to messages.
