DELAND, Fla. (AP) - DeAnthony McCallum scored 14 points, David Bell blocked a shot at the buzzer and Jacksonville held off Stetson 53-52 on Saturday.
McCallum’s 3-pointer tied the game 50-50 with 3:03 to play, and Diante Wood’s layup for Jacksonville capped the scoring with 1:20 left.
Jahlil Rawley forced a Jacksonville turnover with 14 seconds to go before Bell blocked Rob Perry’s layup attempt to end the game.
Stetson led 50-47 with 6:31 remaining then missed its last eight field goal attempts.
Wood had 11 points for Jacksonville (14-17, 7-9 Atlantic Sun Conference). Destin Barnes added 11 points and seven rebounds. Bell had 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
Perry had 18 points and six rebounds for the Hatters (15-16, 9-7), whose losing streak stretched to four games. Christiaan Jones added 11 points. Wheza Panzo had eight rebounds.
The Dolphins evened the season series against the Hatters with the win. Stetson defeated Jacksonville 64-59 on Jan. 18.
