OXON HILL, MD — Larry Kudlow, director of the National Economic Council — meaning he’s the key White House money policy guy — said at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, while sharing the stage with Ivanka Trump, that this election is, simply put, a pit of capitalism against socialism.

That’s it, in a nutshell.

America the free — or America the Venezuela.

“I don’t want to be snarky,” Kudlow said. “I don’t even want to be political. But we will have it out this year: capitalism versus socialism.”

And all the patriots go, Heck ya.

Or how about this: Burn, Bernie, burn.

Not a threat; just being snarky.

But here’s the golden line from the stage: “I actually still believe the Lord loves free enterprise,” Kudlow said.

Agreed. Why wouldn’t He?

The free market is all about taking the seeds God has bestowed at birth — the seeds and talents and graces and blessings of individual talents — and planting them, growing them and using them for His glory. Yes, it’s about making money; the free market does offer that. But more than that, capitalism is a leveling of the playground called economy — the allowing of all, regardless of demographics, to achieve, grow, produce, create, and ultimately, to excel.

Socialism?

Socialism is the dark and ugly enemy of capitalism.

Socialism is the thief that comes in the night to steal from one to give to another, and then pretend that it’s all for the good of both individuals. Socialism is the shadowy force that preys on human souls, driving out all ambition and desire and hope in the process. Socialism is the evil that builds on envy and thrives on self-pity.

Capitalism is buoyed by dreams; socialism is rooted in desperation.

And as Kudlow said: Let’s have this battle.

November 2020: Let it be remembered as the death of socialism in America — the unbridled and passionate return of the free market.

Let it be the era when President Donald Trump sends Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and all the Sanders’ fans and followers, back to the dark corners — back to Cuba or Venezuela. Expunged from America. Expunged from America the Free Market free.
