Not too long ago, Chief Justice John Roberts rebuked President Trump for Mr. Trump’s complaint about the bias shown by the Obama-appointed justices who constantly rule against him. Justice Roberts said that there were no “Obama judges or Trump judges,” only justices who do their duty honorably and without bias. Having now heard what Justice Sonya Sotomayor has had to say about the conservative justices who sit with her on the U.S. Supreme Court, I think Justice Roberts owes the president an apology. And it should be done publicly, just like his rebuke.

It is unreasonable to believe Supreme Court justices don’t bring a bias to their work. The only question is, do they allow their bias to interfere with their constitutional obligations? Because of her bias, Justice Sotomayor is an obstacle to justice.

We have also observed the chief justice’s bias in making his decisions, both regarding the constitutionality of Obamacare, and more recently in his handling of Sen. Rand Paul’s question during the impeachment trial of President Trump. He said he wouldn’t read the question because it would risk identifying the “whistleblower.” As Mr. Paul’s question didn’t identify anyone as being the “whistleblower,” how did Justice Roberts know who it was?

Justice Roberts should resign, as he is clearly unsuited to the position he holds. Also, Justice Sotomayor should recuse herself from any cases involving the Trump administration’s initiatives. She has shown that she is incapable of rendering blind justice in the case of our president. If she will not recuse herself, she should be impeached.
