Ohio State pass rusher Chase Young will reportedly not take part in the drills at the NFL scouting combine this week in Indianapolis.

The NFL Network reported Monday that Young plans to only participate in interviews and medical with teams. That means Young, viewed as the top player in this draft, won’t run the 40-yard dash, do the bench press or any other of the drills that have become a spectacle over the years.

Young will have other opportunities to work out for teams, whether individually or at Ohio State’s Pro Day. But his withdrawal is a minor disappointment, given his status.

This marks the second year in a row in which the league’s top prospect chose not to participate in the drills, with quarterback Kyler Murray also sitting them out last year.

The NFL Network did not mention if Young is dealing with an injury.

Young, 20, is regarded as a generational pass rusher coming off a dominant season at Ohio State. He finished with 16½ sacks and six forced fumbles. The 20-year-old is expected to be drafted second overall by the Washington Redskins as LSU quarterback Joe Burrow has been linked to the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 1.
