EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Tevin Brown scored 10 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with nine seconds left, and Murray State held off SIU-Edwardsville 59-58 on Saturday.

The Racers closed to 57-56 with 34 seconds left on Devin Gimore’s back-to-back layups. Zeke Moore made one of two free throws for a 58-56 Cougars’ lead, but Brown hit a 3 on the next possession. Murray State’s Demond Robinson blocked Cameron Williams’ jumper attempt with two seconds left to seal it.

Jaiveon Eaves hit 5 of 6 3-pointers and matched his career high with 21 points for Murray State (20-8, 13-3 Ohio Valley Conference), which led 36-19 at halftime. Devin Gilmore added seven rebounds and Robinson had nine rebounds and three blocks.

KJ Williams, who was second on the Racers in scoring entering the contest with 13 points per game, shot only 20% in the game (1 of 5).

Tyresse Williford scored 14 points with seven assists and Moore added 10 points for the Cougars (7-22, 4-12), who have lost three straight. Shamar Wright had seven rebounds.

The Racers improve to 2-0 against the Cougars this season. Murray State defeated Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 74-55 on Feb. 1. Murray State takes on Eastern Kentucky at home on Thursday. Southern Illinois-Edwardsville faces UT Martin on the road on Thursday.
