RENO, Nev. (AP) - A handful of Nevada airports are among hundreds across the country sharing in federal grant funding for renovations and updates.

The money comes from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Nevada Democratic U.S. Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen said Friday that the funding will help improve the state’s economy by increasing travel and tourism.

The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the largest recipient in Nevada with more than $31 million to reconstruct a runway and taxiway and to rehabilitate the runway lighting. The airport served nearly 4.5 million passengers last year.

The North Las Vegas Airport is getting about $806,000 to study the future needs of the airport near downtown Las Vegas and to update a master plan.

The state of Nevada plans to use its roughly $560,000 to look at the state’s overall air transportation needs.

The Silver Springs Airport, about 30 miles southeast of Reno, is receiving more than $468,000 to expand the apron where airplanes are parked and serviced.

The Yerington Municipal Airport will use its $300,000 to update the master plan for the airport about 35 miles southeast of Carson City.
