CINCINNATI (AP) - A public visitation and funeral for a former county commissioner in Ohio who died after a battle with cancer will be held Monday in Cincinnati.
Large crowds are expected at the Duke Energy Convention Center to say farewell to Todd Portune, 61.
Portune, who served as a Hamilton County commissioner from 2000 until his resignation in 2019 for health reasons, died Jan. 25 at his home in the Cincinnati suburb of Green Township.
Hamilton County announced that it will be lowering its flags to half-staff in honor of Portune, who became one of the longest-serving Democrats in the Cincinnati region’s history.
His career in the city spanned more than two decades. He served as a Cincinnati city councilman for several years before his election to the county commission.
The visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, with his service immediately following. Portune will be buried at Spring Grove Cemetery.
