Chris Wallace has one word for Democrats who support “Round 2” of impeachment proceedings against President Trump: insane.
The “Fox News Sunday” told colleague Chris Foster that Democrats who treat impeachment like a merry-go-round should focus on public policy and practical legislation for Americans instead.
“When you’re hearing people like [Rep.] Eric Swalwell say, ’Well, maybe we’re going to impeach again.’ Insane, just insane,” Mr. Wallace said on Thursday’s edition of “Fox News Rundown.”
He stressed that Democrats and Republicans should be looking for ways to move forward.
“You know, both sides need to focus on actually helping people deal with the problems … that they face in this country,” he said. “Whether it’s the economy or jobs or education or health care or foreign policy, whatever. They need to be focusing on that and not, you know, staying in this kind of politics of personal destruction. … I think both sides are guilty of it and falling into the trap again.”
The Fox host’s comments come in the wake of Mr. Swalwell telling CNN that Democrats would not take another impeachment “off the table” when it comes to the White House.
“We are not going to let him just torch this democracy because he thinks that he’s been let off once and we’re not going to do something about it,” the California Democrat said Wednesday.
